Petals & Pixie Dust is a family-run flower farm rooted in love, creativity, and the beauty of the land. What began as a shared dream has grown into a place where flowers, craftsmanship, and meaningful moments come together.
The Beginning
Petals & Pixie Dust is truly a labor of love. A love that was born when Lauren met Mark back in 2023.
Lauren was starting her life over, 3 kids, newly divorced and just arrived on the East Coast from Colorado. As Lauren was navigating her new reality, she kept herself busy with the kids, and dating was the last thing on her mind. Mark, a General Contractor and Connecticut native, was busy with his business and building his own home; but in the back of his mind, wondering when true love would show up at his door.
Lauren, never being afraid to take on a challenge, started renovating an 1800’s Dutch Colonial in New Jersey. She saw the potential and had a clear vision; but as she walked into every room, she realized she needed some serious help. Mark came highly recommended and was hired immediately. Over the course of the renovation, Lauren and Mark realized not only did they share a passion for making things beautiful but also for each other; but the distance between them was a challenge.
Lauren had spent time in Connecticut visiting Mark, and grew to love the farm land, rolling hills, and enchanting forests. This relationship that ensued surprised both Lauren and Mark; and they talked of the life they envisioned, learning they shared many of the same values. In addition to wanting to be closer to Mark, Lauren also wanted to provide her kids with more open space and opportunities to be close to nature. She began to look into properties in Connecticut.
The Farm
Lauren had always dreamed of living far away from the hustle and bustle of life and overly populated towns, which is part of what drew her to Connecticut.
When Lauren first walked the 23 acre property, she was awestruck and felt it could only be described as magical.
Drawn to more open space, a slower paced life, being outside, Lauren decided this beautiful property was meant to be a new long term home where she hoped to put down some roots. While the exact path was uncertain, there was certainty in the beauty of the land, opportunities to utilize the land to grow things; and Lauren has always been drawn to finding ways to add sparkle and magic to people’s lives.
The Flowers
Lauren and Mark knew they wanted to pursue a business venture together, where they could both utilize their creativity and hard work ethic. Ideally it would be something that also connected them to nature and the land.
Early on, their obsession with eating high quality food lead them down a path of a self sustaining farm with chickens, pigs, a large vegetable plot, and a greenhouse. This proved a bit more challenging than anticipated and didn’t fulfill the creativity side of things.
Lauren brainstormed and felt drawn to growing flowers as she reflected on her love of flowers, entertaining in fully immersive ways and striving to provide people in her life with moments that took their breath away or transported them into a fantasy world. Mark couldn’t have been a more perfect companion to this dream of Lauren’s with his ability to build and fix anything, as well as his growing experience with all kinds of plants and vegetables.
